    1. Background

    The African Energy Commission (AFREC) is an African Union Commission Agency responsible for supporting the African energy sectorā€™s functions of developing and managing energy resources across Africa. AFRECā€™s mandate is to promote cooperation, research and development on energy issues as well as supporting integration, harmonization and resource mobilization for energy programmes.

    In seeking to achieve its objectives, AFREC intends to manage its website that provides relevant information and data to its stakeholders, including implementing regional bodies, government officials, civil societies, experts in the energy sector, citizenry and partners. The Specific Objectives of AFREC Website are:

    ļƒ˜ To be the first point of reference on energy data in Africa.
    ļƒ˜ Create and update a continental energy database and facilitate the speedy dissemination and exchange of information among member States and Regional Economic Communities (RECs).
    ļƒ˜ To make key documents accessible to the public.
    ļƒ˜ To provide news and updates on the work of the AFREC.
    ļƒ˜ Sustainable management system that allows AFREC to update information easily (through predefined sections and outlines with titles and contents editable by admin. The editable content allows different formats, such as text, image and audio-visual.).
    ļƒ˜ To provide a platform for communication for African Union Member States in the energy sector.

    2. Objectives of the Assignment:

    The main objective of the assignment is to administer, improve, update the AFREC website, social media and other online information systems. The website has been developed to be easily accessible while aiming to help stakeholders understand the work of AFREC. The site is a vital part of the agency and acts as a platform for interested parties as well as current and potential partners to find relevant information and data on African Energy.

    The African Union has received financing from the World Bank toward the cost of the Africa Centres for Disease Control Support Program to Combat Current and Future Public Health Threats Project and intends to apply part of the proceeds for consulting services.

    The consulting services (ā€œthe Servicesā€) include development of risk management policy and framework and development of internal control framework for Africa CDC with estimated level of effort 43 man-weeks for a duration for 15 weeks. The assignment will commence in April 2025.

    The detailed Terms of Reference (TOR) for the assignment can be obtained at the address given below upon the submission of a written request to the address below. The ToR will be sent by email upon request.

    The African CDC now invites eligible consulting firms (ā€œConsultantsā€) to indicate their interest in providing the Services. Interested Consultants should provide information demonstrating that they have the required qualifications and relevant experience to perform the Services. Interested firms are invited to submit their expressions of interest in accordance with the following shortlisting criteria. Please ensure that your submission shall address only the below specified criteria.

    Key Experts will not be evaluated at the shortlisting stage and firms are not required to submit CVs of their key experts.

    The attention of interested Consultants is drawn to Section III, paragraphs, 3.14, 3.16, and 3.17 of the World Bankā€™s ā€œProcurement Regulations for IPF Borrowersā€ July 2016 Revised September 2023 (ā€œProcurement Regulationsā€), setting forth the World Bankā€™s policy on conflict of interest.

    Consultants may associate with other firms to enhance their qualifications, but should indicate clearly whether the association is in the form of a joint venture and/or a sub-consultancy. In the case of a joint venture, all the partners in the joint venture shall be jointly and severally liable for the entire contract, if selected.

    A Consultant will be selected in accordance with the Quality and Cost Based Selection (QCBS) method set out in the Procurement Regulations.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    Are you passionate about the automotive industry and eager to start your career as a skilled technician? A well established dealership vehicle workshop is offering an exciting Apprentice opportunity for motivated individuals looking to gain hands-on experience and develop their skills in vehicle maintenance and repair.

    Duties:

    • Work closely with technician / foreman and learn
    • All aspects of the workshop processes and procedures.
    • Booking in of vehicles and customer interaction
    • All technical aspects, service, repairs and diagnostics of vehicles.
    • Ensure full adherence to OHSA.
    • Work closely and have a good relationship with the sales team, workshop, parts, service providers, etc.

    Requirements:

    • Grade 12 ā€“ technical qualification such as N1/N2/N3 (with motor trade subjects will be a distinct advantage).
    • Code 8 (EB) drivers licence.
    • Knowledge of MS office / products ā€“ excel, word and outlook will be welcome.
    • Knowledge at Dealership Service Workshop Level or similar mechanical service workshop level a distinct advantage. Ā 
    • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
    • Good customer relations and team player.
    • Medically fit and no crim record.
    • Must reside on the East Rand or close to the dealership
    • Own Transport advantageous
