    Vehicle Service Workshop Apprentice – East Rand (Gauteng)

    Duties & Responsibilities

    Are you passionate about the automotive industry and eager to start your career as a skilled technician? A well established dealership vehicle workshop is offering an exciting Apprentice opportunity for motivated individuals looking to gain hands-on experience and develop their skills in vehicle maintenance and repair.

    Duties:

    • Work closely with technician / foreman and learn
    • All aspects of the workshop processes and procedures.
    • Booking in of vehicles and customer interaction
    • All technical aspects, service, repairs and diagnostics of vehicles.
    • Ensure full adherence to OHSA.
    • Work closely and have a good relationship with the sales team, workshop, parts, service providers, etc.

    Requirements:

    • Grade 12 – technical qualification such as N1/N2/N3 (with motor trade subjects will be a distinct advantage).
    • Code 8 (EB) drivers licence.
    • Knowledge of MS office / products – excel, word and outlook will be welcome.
    • Knowledge at Dealership Service Workshop Level or similar mechanical service workshop level a distinct advantage.  
    • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
    • Good customer relations and team player.
    • Medically fit and no crim record.
    • Must reside on the East Rand or close to the dealership
    • Own Transport advantageous

    Introduction

    Our client, a leader in the HVAC industry is seeking to employ a junior Millwright or a Millwright apprentice

    This position would ideally be suited to a candidate that has completed and passed their theoretical exam at a Marseta recognized institution.i.e. Northlink college or similar and has to do their practical in order to obtain a recognized qualification.

    Junior Millwrights, complying with the requirements will also be considered.

    • PLC programming (siemens and Delta)

    In this Miller Apprenticeship opportunity, you will be coached and mentored on the many technical and functional skills of a qualified Miller.

    Responsibilities:

    As a Miller Apprentice you will be responsible to assist the Miller in carrying out their day-to-day duties of achieving efficiency in the mill and ensuring optimal functionality of the milling machinery. Responsibilities during the apprenticeship will consist of process control, storage control, quality control, maintenance of the mill, people management and maintaining safety standards in relation to ISO 22000

    Desired Experience & Qualification

    Requirements:

    –    National Senior certificate or equivalent NQF4 with Mathematics and Physical Sciences as subjects
    –    Either currently registered and in the process of completing modules or;
    –    Interested and willing to qualify as an accredited Miller
    –    Previously work experience will be advantageous
    –    Valid South African driver license with own transport

    ABOUT THE BURSARY PROVIDER – ATHLONE INSTITUTE

    The Athlone Institute Trust (AIT) was established in 1926, when residents of the Paarl area recognised the need for Higher Educational facilities for coloured students. In 1998, the Bursary Project Committee was founded and later in 2006 became renamed to “The Athlone Institute Bursary Project Fund (AIBPROF)”. Athlone Institute Bursary Project Fund has since helped more than 1500 students with their tertiary studies.

    In 2020, the AIT awarded R600 000 in bursaries and bursary loans to 42 students, studying towards various qualifications.

    ABOUT THE AIBPROF BURSARY PROGRAMME – FIELDS COVERED & VALUE

    The Athlone Institute Trust (AIT) is inviting students to apply for their bursary programme, for the 2025 academic year.

    Bursaries will be awarded to students residing within the Paarl or Mbekweni area (Western Cape) OR parishioner at any of the 5 members churches of the Athlone Institute Trust (AIT) (which include: St Stephen’s Anglican Church, Immanuel UR Church, Bethel United Congregational Church (UCC), Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Zions Uniting Reformed Church).

    Bursaries will be available for studies in ANY field, at undergraduate or postgraduate level.

    The bursary will provide cover for a portion of registration fees and tuition fees (the total value will be determined by the AIT).
     

    ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ATHLONE INSTITUTE BURSARY

    Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):

    • You must be a South African citizen (by birth)
    • You must permanently reside in Paarl or Mbekweni, in the Western Cape province OR be a parishioner at one of the five member churches of the Athlone Institute Trust (AIT)
    • You must be a member of one of the member churches of the AIT or a member in at any bona-fide denomination/ religious institution in Paarl or Mbekweni
    • You must have completed Matric
    • You must be in financial need
    • You must be enrolled to study towards an undergraduate or postgraduate qualification, on a full-time or part-time basis, for the 2025 academic year
    • You must be enrolled to study at a recognised and accredited tertiary institution (TVET College/ University/ University of Technology)
    • You must have passed your previous year of study, if currently studying
    • You must be willing to take part in community service within the Paarl/ Mbekweni area
    • You must be willing to take part in the mentoring programme
